Forwarding E-Mails Safely

I think most everyone knows this but just a reminder about deleting email addresses before fowarding on emails. When you forward an e-mail you received from someone else, their e-mail address is still contained in the e-mail. As long as the e-mail continues to be forwarded, your e-mail address is at risk.

The best thing to do to keep addresses safe is clean up every e-mail before you send it off. You want to share the e-mail with other people, not the e-mail addresses already in it.
To do this: click and drag with your mouse to highlight the email addresses to be delted, them press the delete or backspace key.

You can also clean up all those carots (>>>) that come with fowarding emails. Well, there's no simple way to manually eliminate all of those carets (unless you backspace them all) without downloading a program to do it for you, but there is something you can do to prevent more of the carets from showing up. In Outlook Express, go to Tools, Options and click on the Send tab. In there, look for the Plain Text Settings button and click on that. Next, make sure the box that says "Indent the original text with (carets) when replying or forwarding" is unchecked. This will stop any additional carets from getting into the e-mail.
